Good evening parents and guardians. This is Mrs. Benson with your Weekly Update for Monday, December 12 to Friday, December 16.
On Monday, December 12 we begin week three of Advent with the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The 8th graders will be presenting a special program honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe and the many Latino cultures in our community. Flyers went home last Thursday explaining the event. The program will begin at 9 a.m. in the church. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
Monday also marks the 9th Day of Christmas in our 12 Days of Christmas fundraiser. Students may wear red in honor of Poinsettia day. Full free appropriate dress is o.k. for today.
Monday, also marks the beginning of Trimester 2.
On Tuesday, December 13 we continue with the 12 Days of Christmas with the 10th Day of Christmas. Students taking part in the fundraiser will receive a chocolate bar in honor of National Cocoa Day. Remind your student to look for the Golden Ticket! We will have dress rehearsal for our Christmas Show at 9 a.m. in the gym. Please make sure your child is present for dress rehearsal.
On Wednesday, December 14 we will continue with the 11th Day of Christmas with Tackiest/Wackiest Sweater Day. We will have full dress rehearsal for our Christmas Program at 9 a.m. Again, please make sure your child is present for dress rehearsal.
Thursday, December 15 we celebrate the 12th Day of Christmas with Pajama Day! Thursday will be early dismissal at 12:40 p.m. Please note that the school will close at 1 p.m. and there will be no after school care on Thursday, December 15 so that our entire staff can join together as a community at our Christmas Luncheon. Please make arrangements to pick up your child by 1 p.m.
Our Christmas Program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Students are to be in their classrooms in their best Sunday dress by 6 p.m. Doors to the gym will open at 6 p.m. to begin seating guests for our Christmas program. Please note that there will be a grand finale and we need all students to stay for the entire program.
Christmas Vacation begins on Friday, December 16. Classes will resume on Monday, January 9th.
I would like to remind all of you that there is no pick up or drop off on Hamlin Street in front of the school. Please be aware that when you do this you are putting yourselves and your children in danger. You are also defying school policy which does not set a good example for our students. I respectfully ask everyone’s cooperation with this whether I am on duty or another staff member is on duty. It is illegal to park in front of the school on school days. Thank you.
If I do not get a chance to speak with you, I wish you and your families a very blessed and Merry Christmas as well as a blessed and Happy New Year.
As always, thank you, have a great week, and God bless.
