Friday is also Make up Picture Day- this is for anyone who missed picture day or would like to re-do their photo. Please let your teacher know if you'd like your child to re-take their photo. 

□ Blessing of the Animals

Next Monday, October 5, we will celebrate the Blessing of the Animals with a special prayer service at 2pm on the school yard. Students may bring in a special stuffed animal or a drawing/photo of their animal to be blessed. Families are also welcome to bring a live pet to campus at 2pm- sorry, but live animals may not spend the day with us. 

Million Prayer Challenge
We will be joining St. Joseph School's Million Prayer Challenge for the month of October. We hope you'll join us and fill out a prayer sheet nightly with your child. 

October Pillar: Respect

As we begin the month of October, our Pillar of the Month will be Respect.

Throughout the month, we will encourage our students to show respect through their words, actions, and choices—to respect themselves, their classmates, their teachers, our school, and our community.

We invite you to continue the conversation at home by talking with your children about what respect looks and sounds like in your family, classroom, and community.

□ New After-School Pick-Up Procedure
For the safety of our students, for all after-school pickups, parents and guardians must remain in the Victory parking lot at pick-up time. At 4:00 p.m., teachers will walk the students outside and release them directly to their parent or guardian. Please do not enter the building, ring the doorbell, or ask students to open the door for you.

□ Nut-Free School Reminder
Please do not send foods or snacks containing nuts or nut products to school. This includes items that contain peanuts, tree nuts, or nut-based ingredients.

We are off to a great start to September, and I want to thank you for your continued partnership and support. Here are a few important updates and reminders as we head into another busy week at SJF!

❤️ Parent Volunteers Needed!

One of the things that makes SJF so special is the incredible involvement of our families. We have many exciting events coming up and would love your help!

One way to show support for all of our teachers is to volunteer to do photo copies on Fridays. If you are interested, please sign up below & the teachers will love you forever ;)

SJF Parent Volunteer Sign-Ups

Jog-a-thon and Trunk-or-Treat volunteer sign-ups will be coming soon! These are two of our biggest community events, and we will need lots of helping hands to make them a success!

□ New After-School Pick-Up Procedure

Beginning immediately, we are implementing a new pick-up procedure for all students attending Armenian classes or any other after-school class or sport.

For the safety of our students, all parents and guardians must remain in the Victory parking lot at pick-up time. At 4:00 p.m., teachers will walk the students outside and release them directly to their parent or guardian. Please do not enter the building, ring the doorbell, or ask students to open the door for you.

This procedure is important to ensure that we know which adults are picking up students and that students are safely released to their families. It also helps prevent unknown individuals from entering the school campus. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work together to maintain a safe and secure environment for all of our students.

□ Nut-Free School Reminder

As we welcome several new students with severe nut allergies, I want to remind all families that SJF is a nut-free school.

A Note from the Principals

Happy Monday, SJF Families!

I hope everyone is enjoying the long Labor Day weekend! It’s hard to believe we are already heading into our fourth week of school. The beginning of the year always seems to fly by, and it has been wonderful to see our students settling into their routines, making new friends, and getting back into the rhythm of school.

We have another great week ahead at SJF!

□ Fall Picture Day — Wednesday, September 9
Wednesday is Fall Picture Day! Students should wear FULL MASS ATTIRE. We are looking forward to capturing those smiles and having these memories from the beginning of the school year. There are no order forms to fill out before time. 

Success For All
We have officially started our Success for All reading program! The teachers have worked hard to make sure the program is successful. All students will have nightly homework (Monday-Thursdays) called "Read & Respond." It requires nightly reading of any material (books, comic books, cookbooks, gaming guides, etc) and a parent signature. We ask that all choice reading material come from the school classroom libraries or be approved by the classroom teachers. REMINDER: To keep everyone focused on learning there is no student drop off from 8am-10am daily.

There will be no school for students on Monday, September 21, as our faculty and staff will be participating in our annual retreat and professional development.
⭐ Friday, September 25 — Student of the Month
We will be celebrating our September Students of the Month! More information will be coming home to families as we get closer to the celebration.

As always, please make sure you are checking your child's teacher communications and the school calendar regularly. There is a lot happening at school, and we want to make sure everyone has the information they need!

New Policies: 
Morning Assembly: Our morning assembly is now being live streamed on Youtube 7:45am daily Mon-Thurs. Parents can watch too: https://www.youtube.com/@stjfnoho 
Water bottles must be plastic. Students may bring a metal water bottle IF they have a silicone or neoprene sleeve. 
Late Drop off:  Students may not be dropped off during our protected academic block between 8am and 10am daily. If your child is late (after 8:00am) they must be dropped off in the office after 10am. Thank you for your partnership in getting students to school on time. 

Communication:
Please be sure you update the yellow emergency paper that went home last week so we have your most updated information. You should receive 1-2 emails per week from the school office and at least one from your classroom teacher weekly.

SJF Heat Day Policy:

Schools, by nature, are dynamic, ever-changing places where things change and evolve to meet the needs of our community. With the implementation of our new reading program next year, we encouraged many of our teachers to consider teaching a different grade level. This approach provides a fresh start, allows teachers to bring new perspectives to their classrooms, and helps strengthen our instructional program across all grade levels.

We are excited about the talented team we have in place for the 2026-2027 school year. Below is our current teaching assignment plan (as always, assignments are subject to change based on enrollment and school needs).
Monday 8am is our Step-up Day (when current students will get to spend some time with their new teachers!)

Thank you to everyone who came to the PTO safety meeting last week. We are always looking for ways to make our campus safer. Here is the presentation from that meeting https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1RaF5BWm4jehvfWJCGZbc4JKoeflqe-AZo3bASTQmXlg/edit?usp=sharing. The changes we will be making:
1. We will have an armed security guard outside the church on Fridays when our students are present.
2. Church doors will be locked at 8am. No late entry permitted.
3. We will be having one security-focused PTO meeting per year.
4. We will be doing an audit on our security camera system this summer.
