6th Grade
The 6th grade is part of the Middle School Curriculum, which is departmentalized. Not only is the 6th-grade curriculum challenging, but responsibility, accountability, and maturity are important parts of being a 6th grader. Our middle school team works together to support our 6th graders in their transition to Middle School. The curriculum includes the following subjects:

Our middle school team works together to support our 6th graders in their transition to Middle School. The curriculum includes the following subjects:
- Religion – The primary focus in sixth grade is the Old Testament, Sacred Scripture, and Tradition. The 6th graders also participate in Mass duties such as reading, petitions, and ushering.
- Science - Earth and Space Science - focusing on the Solar System
- Social Studies - Ancient Civilizations
- Literature / English / Language: A focus on the critical thinking that is required to address Common Core standards through direct instruction of reading skills and novel studies.
- Math - Focus on four critical areas: (1) connecting ratio and rate to whole number multiplication and division and using concepts of ratio and rate to solve problems; (2) completing understanding of division of fractions and extending the notion of number to the system of rational numbers, which includes negative numbers; (3) writing, interpreting, and using expressions and equations; and (4) developing understanding of statistical thinking.
- Mathematical Practices
- Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
- Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
- Model with mathematics.
- Use appropriate tools strategically.
- Attend to precision.
- Look for and make use of structure.
- Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
- Art - Visual Arts
- Foreign Language – rudimentary exposure to Spanish language and culture
- Physical Education
- Elective class - varies by trimester

- Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels - Missionary Childhood Association Mass
- Science Center
7th Grade
The 7th grade is part of the Middle School Curriculum, which is departmentalized. Not only is the 7th-grade curriculum challenging, but responsibility, accountability, and maturity are important parts of being a 7th grader. The curriculum includes the following subjects:
- Religion –The primary focus in seventh grade is the New Testament (Jesus: The Way, the Truth, and The Life). The 7th graders work with the 8th graders in the Living Rosary ceremony. The 7th graders also participate in Mass duties such as reading, petitions, and ushering.
- Science - Life Science - focusing on the human body systems and organisms
- Social Studies - Medieval and Early Modern Times
- Literature / English / Language: A focus on the critical thinking that is required to address Common Core standards through direct instruction of reading skills and novel studies.
- Math – Focus on four critical areas: (1) developing understanding of and applying proportional relationships; (2) developing understanding of operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations; (3) solving problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions, and working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume; and (4) drawing inferences about populations based on samples.

8th Grade
The 8th grade is part of the Middle School Curriculum, which is departmentalized. Not only is the 8th-grade curriculum challenging, but responsibility, accountability, and maturity are important parts of being an 8th grader. They are prepped for the High School Placement Test (HSPT). The curriculum includes the following subjects:
- Religion – The primary focus in eighth grade is Church History. All students in the eighth grade take the ACRE (Assessment of Catechesis and Religious Education) in December/January. The 8th graders are heavily involved in church assemblies. They lead morning assemblies (prayer meditations). They lead and participate in the Living Rosary, reenactment of Our Lady of Guadalupe, The Nativity during the Christmas program, and the Living Stations of the Cross. They become “family leaders” meaning they mentor their assigned “family members” in each grade, TK-7th, through various retreat activities throughout the year.
- Science - Physical Science - focusing on matter, energy, and motion. Students have the opportunity to collaborate and build a roller coaster for Physics Day
- Social Studies - United States History
- Literature / English / Language: A focus on the critical thinking that is required to address Common Core standards through direct instruction of reading skills and novel studies.
- Math – Focus on three critical areas: (1) formulating and reasoning about expressions and equations, including modeling an association in bivariate data with a linear equation, and solving linear equations and systems of linear equations; (2) grasping the concept of a function and using functions to describe quantitative relationships; (3) analyzing two- and three-dimensional space and figures using distance, angle, similarity, and congruence, and understanding and applying the Pythagorean Theorem.
