A Note from the Principals

April's pillar of the month is "caring." What a great pillar to highlight during this time in our world. If you know a student, parent, or neighbor who is caring for others we would love to share their picture & story. Please email your story to Mrs. Giron at  AGiron@stJaneFrancesSchool.org #FindTheHelpers

We'd like to wish Mrs. Raphael (April 1), our resource teacher, and Ms. Redden (April 4), our 3rd grade teacher, very happy birthdays this week! We're sending virtual hugs and good wishes to you both :)

How Can We Help?
If you are having trouble finding child care, getting meals, or paying tuition PLEASE email or call Mrs. Giron. WE CAN HELP! Reach out to other parents and lean on your community and faith. This type of situation is why we are all a part of a Catholic School community. We all want to help :)

A Note from the Principals

As we begin our 2nd week of remote learning with your children, we have learned a few lessons and will be adjusting our delivery based on these lessons.  We cannot thank you enough for your patience and support and Ms. Aceves & I, as the principals, cannot thank our teachers enough for their efforts to continue the learning for your children. We asked so much of them in so little time & they delivered!

Here are some lessons:
(1) Less is more with distance learning.  Meaningful Learning in Math, ELA, & Religion with week-long projects in Science and Social Studies is more realistic than daily activities loosely related to standards in 7 subjects.

(2) Families & teachers need the flexibility to complete assignments but being online all day is not sustainable.

(3) Children need to see their teachers and peers even via screen to learn, laugh, and pray. For those classes that weren't able to do this yet they will be starting this week.

Given these lessons, your child's teacher will inform you (if they have not done so already) when they are available to speak and how they will be taking attendance. Please speak to your teacher if anything is unclear or your child is unable to check in for attendance during the day for any reason. There will be graded assignments that are required. Please do not let your student fall behind!

We are unsure how long we will be required to continue distance learning so we must continue on together as best we can.

A Note from the Principals

Can I just say that we have the best faculty and parents in the world?
I am blown away by the outpouring of support and positivity that I have seen over the past few days. Our world my be crazy right now but our community is solid as a rock.

The teachers and I are very excited to move to our online learning model on Wednesday! We are seeing this unprecedented time in education as great way to move our students forward into the 21st century. Just because we can't come in to school doesn't mean that the learning stops!

What to expect in the next few weeks:
-Daily lessons for all grades beginning Wednesday.
-Grades 1-8 should expect about 2 hours of graded core subject assignments and additional projects for social studies, religion, and/or science. Assignments will be assigned on Schoology.com.
-Daily contact with teachers via office hours on zoom or email.
-The school office hours will be: 8am-2pm
(Mrs. Giron will not be in regularly as she will be homeschooling her boys too! BUT will be available via email frequently throughout the day)

Every Saint has a story & although St. Clement Mary Hofbauer longed to be a priest, there was no money for studies, and he was apprenticed to a baker. But God guided the young man’s fortunes. "Lent comes providentially to reawaken us, to shake us from our lethargy." -- Pope Francis

Good morning everyone! I found this website with some great Lent resources for parents: HERE. I pray for all of our SJF students and parents everyday and hope that you are having a reflective and prayerful Lenten season.

This week is supposed to be very rainy. Please be sure to pack your students tennis shoes to wear in the classroom if they're going to be wearing rain-boots to school. Direct them to the classrooms if it is raining in the morning and remember to drive safely!

Our next carnival meeting is going to be on March 19th at 4pm in the faculty room. We'd love to hear all of your ideas to make it a great carnival!

Report Cards are going home today.

::CARNIVAL NEWS:: Carnival $50 food donation is due this month. IF you haven't already paid for the tickets, they will be charged to your March Tads.

Reminder: Re-registration is open! Please see the office if you have any questions or need help registering online. We'd be glad to sit down with you!

A Note from the Principals

Good morning everyone!

I hope you had a restful weekend.

This week is Dr. Seuss week. Join us in the wacky days planned for this week!!

Thursday is our first carnival meeting. If you are interested in being on the carnival marketing or entertainment committee please see the office as soon as possible!

It seems we have been having a pretty bad cold & flu season so far. With all the talk of the Corona virus, the teachers and I are making an intentional effort to try to keep germs at a minimum this year. All teachers are wiping down their rooms daily with Clorox wipes and we always have hand sanitizer available. We are now bringing all students to the restroom before lunch to wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water. Though we hate to see students miss school, if your child has a fever or is not feeling well, please keep them at home. Please see the attached letter re: the Corona Virus.
