Many of us may remember today’s Saint of the Day, Pope John Paul II, growing up. Saint John Paul II was an advocate for the youth, so much so that he started World Youth Day, a celebration of Catholic youth that takes places every several years in various countries. In fact, the last one was hosted in his home country of Poland. I leave you with a quote from today’s saint:
Do not be afraid. Do not be satisfied with mediocrity. Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.
-St. John Paul II

May our week be filled with God’s courage and love as we live out Christ’s call to serve our families, friends and everyone we come into contact with.

God bless,

Dear St. Jane Frances de Chantal School Community,

More than ever, we are called to pray for peace in our families, our community and the world. As we continue to pray for our world, let us continue to pray for those that are affected by the tragedy in Las Vegas. I received an email from Dr. Baxter, our Superintendent of Catholic Schools, regarding it that I would like to share with you:

Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles join the nation and the world in prayer and mourning for the victims, families, and loved ones either directly or indirectly involved in the tragedy that occurred in Las Vegas this weekend. As you continue to offer prayers and remembrances at Mass, we ask that you keep a special place in your hearts for the St. John Fisher Parish School community in Rancho Palos Verdes. Mrs. Lisa Patterson, a school parent and PTO President, was among the tragic victims who died as a result of the shootings. Lisa and her husband Bob have three children, one still in 2 nd grade at the school.
