A Note from the Principals

Happy Monday SJF Families!

We are overjoyed to have all of our classrooms officially open once again! There seems to be daily changes in the Department of Health regulations shortening the distance between desks and decreasing cohort regulations. For now, we are sticking to our reopening plan and will not be changing any of our school protocols.

WE HAVE GREAT NEWS!! We have officially been approved for a school-wide renovation from the Shea Foundation!! They will be updating all of our classrooms and doing additional work all over our campus this summer. We'll be sending more updates when they are available. We have the task of cleaning out every classroom before the last day of school and we will need LOTS OF BOXES!! If you have any to donate, could you please bring them to the school office? Thank you in advance. What a great way to start our 70th year school anniversary year!

A Note from the Principals

Happy Monday SJF Families!

As of today LA County is officially in the red tier. This means that many things can now reopen & most importantly, we will be able to bring our 7th & 8th graders back on campus on MONDAY 3/22! If your student is in 7th or 8th, please be on the lookout for an email regarding coming back to campus. We have already had our parent meeting- it has been recorded if you need it.
Although we plan on keeping with our back-to-campus plans and documents, there have been some changes at the county level. You can find the full document HERE.

Easter Travel: As we all plan our spring breaks, please note the Travel Advisory:  The CDPH Travel Advisory remains in place:
Non-essential travel beyond 120 miles in-state, out of state and out of country increases the risk of COVID-19 and per the advisory, those traveling are recommended to self-quarantine for 10 days. Please let your teacher know if you will need to self-quarantine after Easter break :)

Wednesday is St. Patrick's Day: Wear green & jeans for the day!

Principals of the day: We had many students win the principal of the day prize for selling more than 5 boxes of chocolate! Sometimes they will make special "rules" for the day. This Thursday  we will have Allison & Emma in TK take over the office. They have requested everyone to wear their favorite color- purple! Be on the lookout for more Principals and their special rules :)

A Note from the Principals

Good afternoon SJF Families!

Every year at this time our teachers review a child abuse prevention program with our students. This program is called "Empowering God's Children" and is intended to equip our students with the tools they need to remove themselves from any uncomfortable situation from bullying to abuse. Please see our communication below for additional information. ADDITIONALLY, the principals in the Archdiocese were sent a letter from the  downtown office regarding a previously employed music teacher here at SJF for a couple months during the 2017-18 school year so I wanted to pass it on. target="_blank">HERE to view the letter.

We are gearing up to bring 6th grade and some 7th & 8th graders back on campus next week! Join us for a Middle-school back-to campus meeting on Thursday @ 6pm. bit.ly/SJFZoom (meeting ID: 583 215 195) Password: SJF

We are committed to your child’s safety and well-being.  Almost daily, we hear of incidents of child sexual abuse happening. That is why learning how to prevent it is important. We, as adults, must learn how to keep our children and young people safe, but that we also teach them to keep themselves safe.

St. Jane Frances School will present a child sexual abuse prevention program, called VIRTUS® Empowering God's Children, to our students this month. The creators of the Empowering God's Children™ program developed the Touching Safety program which consists of “Five Safety Rules” children need to learn to help keep themselves safe.  They will also learn about internet and technology safety, setting boundaries, bullying and related topics.

This program is provided by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and is a part of our ongoing effort to help create and maintain a safe environment for children and youth to protect all children from sexual abuse. For more information on the Empowering God's Children program, you may visit the VIRTUS Online™ website at www.virtus.org.

If you want to teach this program to your child yourself, an Opt-Out form is available upon request in the school office.
