​Dear St. Jane Frances de Chantal School Community,
 
Happy 2nd week of school and feast day of St. Monica!  St Monica prayed diligently for her son, St. Augustine.  May we continue to pray for our children as they grow in faith and knowledge.
 
Thank you to all of you that made it to Back to School Night.  We touched upon our school goals of the year: faith (catechetical formation) and excellence/academics (continuing to strengthen instruction school-wide).  I hope that you enjoyed getting to know your child's teacher in order to support them in their school success.
 
A few reminders:

• STAR testing continues this week.  STAR testing helps us to see where each student is in the beginning of the year and how to best support them in their growth.  Please make sure your child eats a well-balanced breakfast and is on time. This is necessary for him/her to do their best. 
• Volleyball tryouts are on Wed. & Thurs. from 3:30-5 PM.  If you need more information, you can talk to Coach Dominguez (3rd grade).  
• Washington D.C. meeting is Thursday at 6:30 PM in the 8th grade room.  This is open for 7th & 8th graders.  For questions, please go to Mrs. Valero.
• Thank you for following our new morning drop off procedure.  I will continue to be outside to help families as the transition.  Remember: you must show your parking permit on your dashboard mirror in order to park by PreSchool, PreK or Kindergarten.  All students must observe parking procedure - when your child comes out of the car by the STOP sign, they must walk around the classroom areas.  This will continue to keep our campus safe.  
• We are looking for dedicated, hard-working parents to volunteer as a room parent.  If you have questions about being a room parent, you can talk to Mrs. Whited (Kindergarten).

Good evening! I hope you had a blessed first day of school. It was a pleasure to meet many of you and your child(ren) today.

The morning drop off procedure will start tomorrow. As a reminder, please follow the steps below:
*Enter through Victory Blvd. only
*If your child is grades 1-8 only, please use the drop off zone. There is no parking inside the school - you can park in the Victory lot/Church parking lot.
If you have at least 1 child in Preschool, PreKindergarten or Kindergarten, you may park on the right side in front of their classrooms. If you went to school today, please post the orange letter you received from your teacher on your car’s dashboard mirror. You have 5 minutes to park and walk your child to their classroom.
*Exit safely through Hamlin St.

Welcome to the first week of school!   I hope that your summer has been a blessed one and that you are ready to start a memorable new year.
 
Here are a few reminders as we begin school:

• Monday, August 21 is a professional development day for the teachers. The office will be open from 9 AM-1 PM.
• The first day of school, Tuesday, August 22, is a minimum day. Students can enter their classrooms starting at 7:30 AM. School begins promptly at 7:45 AM & ends at 12:40 PM. Lunch is not served on minimum days. After-school will also begin on Tuesday, August 22.
• Meet the Principal Morning is hosted by our wonderful room parents on the first day of school. This is from 8:30-9 AM in the music room for parents only. Donuts and coffee will be provided. I am looking forward to meeting you all - please stop by!
• Back to School Night for K-8 is Thursday, August 24 at 6:30 PM in the De Chantal Hall/Bingo Hall. We will begin with a general session in the hall and then there will be 2 sessions in the classrooms with your child’s homeroom teacher. It is important to attend - help your child succeed from the very beginning.
• The first All School Mass is on Friday, August 25. Students should be in formal uniform (including cardigan, tie, and dress shoes).
• The regular school day from Monday-Thursday is 7:45 AM - 2:40 PM. Fridays are from 7:45 AM - 12:40 PM.
• Below are the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures. 
  Please make sure you give you and your child enough time to arrive promptly.

Morning Drop-off Procedure:
1. Enter through Victory Blvd. only.
2. If your child is grades 1-8 only, use the drop off zone. There is NO PARKING.
If you have at least 1 child in Preschool, Pre Kindergarten , or Kindergarten in your car , park on the right side (Yellow arrow). You have 5 min. to park & walk your child in their classroom.
3. Exit safely through Hamlin St.
*The school gate will close promptly at 7:45 AM. During regular school hours, you can enter through Hamlin St.

Afternoon Pick-up Procedure:
1. All parents and guardians will still be required to park in the Victory/Church lot, go to their student’s classroom & pick them up (all grades).
2. Siblings cannot pick up younger siblings.
*The school gate will close promptly at 3 PM.
